Prince Harry brings the charm to Toronto

Prince Harry's morning started out early as he was greeted by the Founder of True Patriot Love, and the man responsible for brings the Invictus Games to Toronto, Shaun Francis. Around 7:30 am media and fans waited for Prince Harry to arrive at the Scotia Plaza to listen to speakers during the True Patriot Love Multination Symposium.

Hosted by Kevin Newman, who welcomed the Prince to Canada, Prince Harry also heard from two panels, one of which included Staff Sgt Elizabeth Marks.

If Sgt Marks name is ringing a bell, she is the swimmer that gained the media's attention at the games in Orlando and ultimately gave her medal to Prince Harry to pass on to the hospital staff that saved her life.

Sgt Marks and her caregiver (who is also a veteran) both spoke of the challenges veteran welfare faces'. Marks thanked Prince Harry for his work and noted how we need to focus our energy on the people who are making a difference and not to spread ourselves too thin.

Holding back his tears, Veteran Mason Heibel, the caregiver for Sgt Marks, spoke of how while in the battlefield “you see things that you see in the movies.”

From the symposium, Prince Harry headed to the Pam Am Sports Center to check in on some of the training. Harry was on top form joking around with Team Australia, pretending to kick their stuffed kangaroo mascot into the pool.

The highlight of his visit though was when he first arrived and woke up a very unsuspecting member of Team Australia who had dozed off on the bleachers. It took a good 15-20 seconds for the shocked athlete to realise that it was none other than Prince Harry waking him.

Despite Harry's team trying to get him through everyone is a timely manner, Harry stopped to speak with everyone from the volunteers to the athletes asking them about jetlag, how their training is going on and how they like their accommodations.

Before leaving he was gifted with some stuffed toys for his nephew and niece, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Tomorrow, Prince Harry will officially open the Invictus Games in a glittery ceremony.
